My Road to Writing
Olivia Grey

My Road to WritingHi everyone, My name is Olivia and I like to write. Such an easy statement to make because it's so very, very true! This blog will no doubt archive every thought that I have, every panicked moment and every flash of joy and excitement as I begin my writing career. I hope that you will join me on this journey :) I am currently working on my first project, which I'm afraid that I am not going to be revealing too much about for the next few months, but I hope that when I do being releasing information people will enjoy it and will be able to see my character's world with eagerness for the finished product. So, I thought that I would write a little about myself in order to get this blog started. I am 22-years-old, and have written since I can remember. Growing up, my mind wasn't ever on tedious topics such as make-up, clothes and boys like any other teenage girl. I constantly had a pen and paper at hand to jot down any ideas for stories, songs, poems or character profiles. My mum used to tell me off because I had a knack of staying indoors and writing, even when out on family holidays! 'Come to the pool with us!' she'd say, but having a change of scenery from the one I was used to back home was always an inspiration to write, and much to her annoyance I'd usually prefer the hotel bedroom to the pool! Even at school, I used to write stories with a friend, and I used to look forward to writing in our shared hardback book every time it was my turn to add to the story. I have always been a firm believer of if you can see your characters on paper whilst you write them, you can empathise more with them and therefore create better detailing. It is because of this reason that I would always draw my characters as well as tell their story, and I still do to this day. It has always been my dream to be an author, so I think it's time to make that happen :) I am currently at University studying for a degree in Criminology, so unfortunately I haven't found myself with too much time on my hands for writing for the past few years. However, this year, due to a mix-up with my course, I am studying via distance learning, and so its now much easier to find the time. No lessons = more time at home = more time to get started on my project! Over the course of my project, I will be releasing pictures and facts about my characters (which I hold very dear to my heart) and their world. I will probably blog whenever I feel stressed or happy, and this will probably be my first port of call if I feel the need to get some ideas down. Some of my posts will be long, others will be short, and I apologise in advance if I forget to blog every now and then. Please feel free to connect with me on either Facebook, Twitter or via email; all my contact info is at the bottom of this page. Olivia x
